  • POTOMAC RIVER - D.C. - Smallmouth bass action is excellent around Fletchers’ Boat House on live crayfish, tube baits and Yamamoto Senkos. From Chain Bridge to 14th Street Bridge, along the Virginia shoreline, crankbaits are taking most of the fish. Bridge pilings, wood cover and dropoffs are holding most of the largemouth throughout the city. Crankbaits, slow-rolled spinnerbaits, jig ‘n pig and plastic worms are the better choice of baits. Crappie are avail-able throughout the river, orienting to submerged brush in 10-15 feet of water………………………

  • Castaway Sporting Goods (804-706-9100) reports crappie are in full swing. Notable catches: Ronnie Zervakis (Chesterfield) and Mike Zervakis (Chester) two stripers, 19, 24; Pete Walker (Richmond) bluecat, 63 pounds, 4 ounces; Jason Gibbs (Richmond) bluecat, 41, 12.

  • Capt. Art Conway of Conway’s River Rat Guide Service (804-746-2475) out of Ed Allen’s Boats and Bait reports lake water temperatures were in the midto high-60s last weekend and the water level was at full pool……………

Weekly Outdoor Report ~ Feb. 13th

What a wind we had on the weekend! Undoubtedly that cut the fishing off clean. But some anglers were still out on other days.   

  • Rappahannock River   Ken’s Tackle (898-1011) reported that ring perch are biting in the river. Some customers were fishing not far from Old Mill Park and caught a nice stringer of fish. The ringers were also hitting in tidal creeks.
