Wahoo are one of the fastest fish in the sea. It is a powerful fish that is found on all 3 coasts. They
can grow to more than 140 pounds. Wahoo have extremely sharp teeth, so you must handle them very carefully.
Catching Wahoo
Wahoo are mostly caught by trollers fishing for other fish. Surface skipping baits and lures catch lots of wahoo, but more are caught by trolling deeper water. Deep-trolling lures and downriggers are key to catching wahoo in deeper water. Some anglers do well jigging for wahoo while others have some success using chum lines. When using chum lines for tuna, wahoo will come in to grab an easy meal. If you have your line bit off a couple of times while fishing for tuna, attach a short length of stainless steel leader wire or cable because they are most likely tuna biting through your line with their sharp teeth. Wahoo are excellent fighters and they taste good which makes them a favorite for most fishermen.
