Fly Fishing with Streamers

Streamers are very popular for catching big trout.
When trout get bigger, they feed mostly on bait fish.
Although fishermen do catch some big fish on flies, many
more big trout are caught on streamers.  Streamers are
larger flies that mimic bait fish such as shiners, chubs,
dace, sculpins, small trout, and others.

Because streamers are larger, they attract more trout.  Some streamers are made with bright colors to attract trout.  They are very effective even
though they don’t even resemble a bait fish.

Fishing with streamers takes some practice, but once you get comfortable with them, it is fairly easy.  Drifting streamers is very popular, however, some
anglers add a twitch into the presentation to imitate a wounded bait fish.  In slow current, stripping the line is required to give the fly the proper action
    needed to entice a strike.
