Spinning and Baitcasting Techniques for Stream
    Trout

    Casting
Using lures such as spinners, spoons, crankbaits and
minnow plugs will take lots of trout.  Since large trout feed
mostly on bait fish, fishermen that are using these lures
    will often catch big trout.

Not only can you catch big fish by casting lures, it is easy to fish these lures.  Tie on a lure with excellent action
and just cast it all along the river or stream.

Most anglers agree that you can catch lots of trout by bumping your lure along the bottom.  When choosing a
lure you need to know what depth you are fishing, what types of cover is available, how fast or slow the
currents are, and how these variables will affect the depth at which your lure will run.  When fishing spinners,
minnow plugs and spoons, slow retrieves will get the lures down deeper.  With crankbaits, medium to fast
retrieves work best.  To avoid line twist when using these lures, try attaching a ball-bearing swivel to the line.
