Finding Rock Bass

Just like their name implies, rock bass love rocks.  You
can find them in weedy or brushy areas, along weed
lines and around wood also.  They do school up making
for some very exciting fishing when you find the fish.
Rock bass begin to spawn when the water reaches 65 to
70 degrees.  In the spring, any shallow water cover with
sand or rock bottoms will hold fish.

Large boulders, trees and brush provide some excellent cover for them during the spawn.  After the spawn, rock bass will be in water from 8 to 20 feet
deep.  Rocky points, drop-offs, humps and deep weed lines will hold large schools of rock bass.  If you can find them, they are still easy to catch.  In the
fall, they come into the shallows again, but not as shallow as during the spring spawn.
