Largemouth Bass in Pits and Quarries

Some bass fishermen believe that fishing pits and
quarries is better than any other type of water.  Coal
strip mines are found throughout the midwest and on the
eastern part of the country.  Most of these pits and
quarries have been stocked with largemouth bass years
ago and they can provide some very good fishing.  The
strip mines will vary in depth.

Some of the older strip mines will be 10 to 20 feet deep, while the newer ones are as deep as 100 feet.  The extremely deep strip mines don't produce
many fish because the water is so cold and infertile. The best strip mines usually have a max depth of 20 to 40 feet.  Some pits and quarries that have
very little fishing pressure can result in good numbers of bass and also some huge bass.
