can exceed 600 pounds.  If you want to catch some of these
huge fish, take a look at all of the top Alaska fishing
destinations.  Plan on having sore arms for a couple of days
after one of these trips.  Fishing is that good in Alaska.

    Catching Halibut

Halibut are a bottom-dweller and for the most part, you're
going to be catching them by fishing on the bottom.
However, halibut will come off the bottom and make their way
up the water column to feed.  Some good baits for halibut
are salmon or mackerel heads, herring, crab, cod, squid and
octopus.  If you get into a big school that is feeding, you will
most likely be able to catch plenty by using jigs.
