Chumming for Carp

Chumming for carp is one of the most effective ways to
consistently catch carp.  Chumming is not legal in all
states, so make sure to check your state's regulations
before you decide to use this technique.  Chumming
means to throw food into the water to attract fish to your
area.  You can chum for carp with a variety of baits such
as corn, boilies, dough baits and bread.  Corn is by far
Carp Fishing

the most popular type of chum bait for carp in North America.  When chumming for carp, you want to make sure to throw enough corn out to keep
them in your area, but not too much to overfeed them.  Three or four handfuls every hour will usually be plenty.  Some anglers get in a routine of
chumming specific areas on specific lakes, rivers and ponds.  If you consistently chum in the same spots, carp will begin hanging out in those
areas.  When you get carp accustomed to feeding in a specific area, you can get away with chumming less on days that you are fishing.  One or two
handfuls per hour should be plenty and this will give you a better chance of having a carp pick up your bait instead of the chum.
