Wisconsin offers some excellent fly fishing
opportunities. The obvious places to fly fish are the
Great Lakes tributaries. On these tributaries, it is
common to catch huge chinook salmon, coho
salmon, steelhead and brown trout. If you are
looking to land a big fish, the Great Lakes tributaries
are your best option. The rest of the state offers
plenty of other fly fishing opportunities. In the
southwestern part of the state, there are some
streams that have good numbers of brown trout. In
the central part of the state, there are some clear
streams that provide good fishing for brown trout,
brook trout and even some rainbows. The northern
part of Wisconsin has some streams and rivers that
are loaded with fish and less crowded. Trout and
smallmouth bass are abundant in some of these
streams. If you are looking for action, there are
some streams where you can consistently catch 10
to 20 smallmouth bass per outing. Most of these fish
will run between 10 to 14 inches, but it can be a lot
of fun with the gorgeous scenery and uncrowded
waters.
