Block Island is an island located about 8 miles south of the coast of Rhode Island. The
island is separated from the mainland by the Block Island Sound. Block Island is a very
popular tourist destination during the summer. People flock here to enjoy the beaches
as well as boating, fishing, sailing, hiking and biking.
The islands hosts the Block Island Race Week every summer. This event is a week
long sailboat race. The fishing off of Block Island can be outstanding. There are
numerous fishing charters that target striped bass, bluefish, sea bass, tautog and fluke
inshore as well as tuna and shark offshore.
