The lower Niagara River flows from the Niagara Falls into Lake Ontario. This river is
known for its excellent steelhead fishery, but you can also catch chinook salmon, coho
salmon, lake trout and brown trout during the winter months. These fish will move out
of Lake Ontario and into the river during the winter. Most anglers come out here to
catch steelhead and you can catch a mess of them if you are willing to put up with the
cold weather. In the summer, anglers fish for walleye, smallmouth bass and muskie.
