Lake Shabbona is a popular lake for fishermen. The lake is about 70 miles west of
Chicago. The Shabbona Lake State Recreation Area offers 1,550 acres of rolling
prairie and a 318.8 acre man-made lake. There is a double lane launch ramp, boat
rentals, camping, a bait and tackle shop and even a restaurant on site.
Lake Shabbona is known as the premier muskie fishing lake in Illinois. Many state
record muskies have come from this lake and many anglers expect the next state
record muskie to come from here. The lake is also stocked with largemouth bass,
smallmouth bass, crappie, walleye and catfish.
