Lake Shabbona is a popular lake for fishermen. The lake is about 70 miles west of Chicago. The Shabbona Lake State Recreation Area offers 1,550 acres of rolling prairie and a 318.8 acre man- made lake. There is a double lane launch ramp, boat rentals, camping, a bait and tackle shop and even a restaurant on site.
Lake Shabbona is known as the premier muskie fishing lake in Illinois. Many state record muskies have come from this lake and many anglers expect the next state record muskie to come from here. The lake is also stocked with largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie, walleye and catfish.
