Port St. Joe is nice beach vacation destination to get away from it all. This area is
located about 36 miles southeast of Panama City. The Port St. Joe and Cape San Blas
area is located on the St. Joseph Bay and Gulf of Mexico. You won't find tons of fancy
resorts and hotels here, but you will find some smaller hotels and inns as well as many
vacation rentals on or near the beach. This area does draw many tourists because of
the vacation home rentals on the beaches, the miles of white sand beaches, and the
beaches are pet-friendly. The St. Joseph Peninsula State Park was ranked as America’
s #1 Beach in 2002 according to www.drbeach.org. You will also find many fishing
charters in the Port St. Joe / Cape San Blas area. Fishing can be very good in St.
Joseph Bay, offshore in the Gulf of Mexico or even from the surf.
