Folsom Lake is a reservoir in Northern California. It is located about 25 miles northeast
of Sacramento. Formed by Folsom Dam in 1955, this lake provides flood control,
hydroelectricity, drinking water and water for irrigation to go along with the Folsom Lake
State Recreation Area.
The 18,000 acre lake and recreation area offers plenty of opportunities for people that
enjoy being outdoors. Fishing, boating, hiking, biking, running, camping, picnicking and
horseback riding are some of the activities that people enjoy in this recreation area.
Fishermen target largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, trout, catfish and perch.
