Castaic Lake was formed by Castaic Dam in the northwestern part of Los Angeles
County. The lake is huge, covering over 323,000 acres with a surface elevation of
about 1,500 feet above sea level. Castaic Lake is known for being one of the best "big
bass" fishing lakes in the entire state of California. Many monsters have been caught
on Castaic. The lake is popular among fishermen and boaters, although, most of the
boaters stay in the upper part of the lake. If you are looking to get away from the boat
traffic, fish the south part of the lake. The lower portion of this lake is very productive
with many big fish coming from this part of the lake.
