Wilson Lake is located in northern Alabama near the towns of Florence and Muscle
Shoals. The reservoir covers extends up to the Wheeler Dam and covers 15,500 acres.
Fishing is the major attraction on Wilson Lake with some excellent fishing for
largemouth and smallmouth bass, striped bass, spotted bass, sauger and catfish (blue
and channel).
The tailwaters of Wheeler Dam are excellent for catching a variety of species, but many
anglers target stripers, catfish, sauger and smallmouth in the tailwaters below the dam.
The spring and the fall are the best times for catching lots of fish at the dam. There is
a fishing platform located below the dam that makes it accessible for bank fishermen.
