Weiss Lake is an Alabama Power Company hydroelectric impoundment covering
30,200 acres in northeast Alabama on the Alabama - Georgia border. There are public
access areas as well as numerous marinas that service the lake. Camping, fishing, and
boating are very popular on this lake.
Fishing: The lake known as the "Crappie Fishing Capital of the World" has an
abundance of species to go after. Obviously, crappie fishing is fantastic. Largemouth
bass and striped bass fishing is very good. Largemouth bass average 2-3 pounds and
the stripers are averaging 3-7 pounds with some fish over 25 pounds.
