Located in northwest Alabama on the Tennessee River, Pickwick Landing Dam sits in
Tennessee, but the majority of the reservoir floods Alabama.  The reservoir totals
47,500 acres and runs 50 miles from Pickwick Dam to the Shoals area in Alabama and
Wilson Dam. Fishing tournaments are popular every year on Pickwick Lake.

Fishing: Largemouth bass and smallmouth bass are the species most targeted in
Pickwick Lake.  Smallmouth bass fishing has a great reputation in the shoals, which can
be reached just downstream of the Wilson Dam to the end of 7-mile island.  Water is
discharged from the dam and the smallmouth bass love the current.  Crappie fishing is
very good on Pickwick Lake also.  Bear Creek and Second Creek provide good fishing
for Crappie.  Blue catfish, channel catfish, and sauger are available also.
