Lake Harris is Alabama's youngest impoundment. It has now been 23 years since the
waters of the Little Tallapoosa River and the Big Tallapoosa River were backed up with
the completion of Lake Harris dam. The lake has over 10,000 surface acres of water
and is 27 miles long.
Fishing: Largemouth and spotted bass are targeted at Lake Harris. This lake has a
lot of smaller sized largemouth and spotted bass. Don't let this discourage you,
because there are some monsters in this lake as well, with largemouth bass over 10
pounds.
There are some very good-sized crappie in this lake. In a 2005 electro sampling, over
71 percent of the crappie were over 10 inches.
