Neely Henry Reservoir is located in northeast Alabama on the Coosa River, just off of I-
59 near the towns of Gadsden and Ohatchee.  The reservoir covers 11,235 acres and
extends 77.6 miles from the dam upstream to Weiss dam.  Generally a river-run lake,
Neely Henry fans out toward the dam to offer more open water.  Neely Henry is one of
the best kept secrets in Alabama.  It is overlooked because of the fantastic fishing
provided by other waters such as Lake Guntersville and Lake Weiss.

Fishing: Largemouth bass and spotted bass dominate Neely Henry.  The average size
largemouth bass is 2-3 pounds and the average spotted bass runs 2-4 pounds.

White crappies reach 11- to 12-inches in just two years.  Getting out for the spawn in
early spring can provide crappie in bunches.  The fall is another good time for crappie
fishing as they roam the shallows again.  There is some pretty good striped bass fishing
at the dam.  7-8 pounders are fairly common.
