Dauphin Island is a barrier island that is located south of Mobile, Alabama.  The island
is approximately 14 miles long with a population of about 1,300 residents. The
permanent residents of Dauphin Island are family-oriented and they welcome the
tourism.  Some tourism activities include swimming, bird watching, camping and fishing.
There are beautiful beaches full of white sand, a public golf course and parks that help
make this island a wonderful laid-back destination.

The fishing can be very good on Dauphin Island.  Most of the fishing charters will take
off out of nearby
Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, but we do have one fishing charter
listed for Dauphin Island.  There are a couple of piers that offer fishing for a variety of
species. From April through early November, anglers report catches of speckled trout,
flounder, red fish, king mackerel, spanish mackerel, ling, and even some black tip
shark, sand shark, and hammerhead shark.
