Panfish Lures: When fishing for panfish, smaller lures do the trick. These fish are smaller and they have smaller mouths also, which means you need small baits to catch them. There are all types of panfish lures on the market. Small tubes, curly tail worms, small jigs, jigging spoons, small spinners, and spinner rigs produce lots of panfish every year. Most anglers use live bait for panfish, but when the fish are active, they will hit these small lures and you won't spend lots of time baiting your hook. If you are looking to use a bait a little faster like a lure, but still use live bait, you can tip your jigs with live bait or use a spinner rig with live bait attached to the hook. This can be very productive for most panfish. A spinner rig set up with a worm or leech will produce some major results for rock bass, perch, big sunfish, and even some crappie.
