Fly Fishing Flies:  There are many types of flies that are
used to catch a variety of species.  Here is a list so you
can get an idea what types of flies are on the market.
>  Wet Flies
>  Dry Flies
>  Nymphs
>  Streamers

Dry flies resemble an insect floating on the surface.
Smaller dry flies are popular for trout, while large dry flies,
or poppers are common for catching big panfish, bass and
northern pike.
Wet flies sink and they resemble an insect
that is drifting underneath the water surface.  Wet flies are
used to catch a variety of species with salmon and trout
being the most common.
Streamers are bigger than your
typical fly and they resemble and injured bait fish.
Streamers work great for catching larger fish such as big
trout, bass, northern pike and muskie.
Nymphs are a type
of wet fly that are used to imitate an emerging insect in its
larval state.  Some of the more popular types of nymphs
are the mayfly and caddis fly.
