Boat Storage
Boat storage is something you need to think about before you purchase a boat.  We're sure that many
people forget to factor this in before a purchase, but it should be thought about before you buy your
new boat.  Storing a boat can be cut into your monthly budget.

Boating Season
During the boating season, you might be able to keep your boat in your driveway, along the side of your
house, in your garage or even at a friend's house.  All of these options will save you some money.
However, many boaters enjoy going to the lake and just hopping in their boat - no trailering and no
launching of the boat.  This is going to require a boat slip.  Boat slips can get pricey.  On some of the
nicer lakes, you can be looking at spending $ 6,000 or more for one year.  Ouch!  This all depends on
the lake.  Some marinas are much cheaper and there are even places where you can buy your own
boat slip.  If you buy a boat slip, it turns into an investment.

Off-Season
In most states, the weather will cause you to store your boat for the winter.  The drive-way or garage
might not be an option anymore since you have to get your cars off the street because of snow.  This is
when you will need to look for a storage company.  There are indoor and outdoor boat storage
companies.  Keeping the boat indoors should help keep the boat in good condition for longer, but you
will pay extra to store it inside.  Some boaters try asking their friends to see if they have any extra
storage.  There are a lot of people out there that have extra space at their vacation home, in a
warehouse or even in their garage.  These options could save you some money.
